Ubi Franklin Addresses Viral Theft Allegations

Nigerian music executive Ubi Franklin has publicly denied allegations that he stole a luxury wristwatch while attending Davido’s wedding in Miami, USA, over the weekend.

Rumors began circulating on social media on Wednesday after a blog report claimed Franklin was involved in a theft incident.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Franklin released a detailed statement describing the claims as false and misleading.

Ubi Franklin’s Side of the Story

In his statement, Franklin explained that while in Miami, a man named Benny approached him with an offer to sell a luxury watch. After inspecting it and confirming its previous ownership, he declined the purchase to avoid any possible complications.

Later, during the wedding’s church service, Benny sent another wristwatch through his brother  which Franklin confirmed he purchased and paid for in full.

Due to the busy wedding schedule and urgent travel plans for his sister’s funeral, Franklin said he ended up with both watches in his possession.

“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full from Benny,” Franklin stated.

He added that Benny himself had already debunked the theft rumors, yet the false narrative continued to spread online.

Family Tragedy Amidst Controversy

Franklin revealed that he returned to Nigeria immediately after the wedding to prepare for his sister’s funeral, making the situation even more emotionally challenging for him and his family.
