Nigerian dance queen, Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, has opened up about the struggles of dating as a divorcee and single mother.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Kaffy who divorced her ex-husband, Joseph Ameh revealed that many men find it difficult to accept her because of her children.
“I’ve had someone tell me he can’t date me because I have two children. But what makes you think a divorced woman who has worked on herself isn’t even a better candidate? What’s the guarantee that two single people getting married today won’t also end up divorced tomorrow?” she said.
Kaffy further challenged societal stereotypes, noting that over 70% of marriages fail globally, and divorce does not automatically make someone less worthy of love.
Kaffy on Love and the “Butterfly Effect”
The renowned choreographer also shared her thoughts on love, debunking the popular notion of “butterflies in the stomach.”
“Do you know that a lot of butterflies in the tummy is a trauma response? Real love brings peace, not anxiety. True love is calm, not chaotic,” Kaffy explained.
