Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied reports of a personal conflict with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, describing the governor as his "son." In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Wike dismissed speculation of a rift between the two former allies, stating that his struggle is not with Fubara but with individuals manipulating the governor for selfish interests.

Wike emphasized that he is fighting against those who want to exploit Rivers State's resources without contributing to its development. He claimed that these individuals are pushing Fubara and need to be defeated. The minister's comments come amid heightened political tension in Rivers State following Fubara's suspension and ongoing power struggles.

Wike also revealed that Fubara had initiated reconciliation efforts, following President Bola Tinubu's repeated calls for peace. According to Wike, Fubara visited him with two governors and an elder statesman, seeking to mend their relationship. Although Wike noted that the two governors accompanying Fubara were from the APC, he expressed willingness to pursue peace, citing the President's calls for calm.
