A total of 390 ex-Boko Haram members have graduated from a de-radicalisation programme in Gombe State and are now ready for reintegration into society. The graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the efforts of the Nigerian government to rehabilitate and reintegrate former insurgents.

The graduates, comprising 384 Nigerians and six foreigners, underwent a comprehensive de-radicalisation programme that included training in various skills such as welding, tailoring, carpentry, and electrical repairs. The programme aimed to equip the graduates with the necessary skills to become productive members of society and to discourage them from returning to their past activities.

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, commended the armed forces for their efforts in using kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to combat terrorism and violent extremism in the country. She also lauded President Bola Tinubu for his political will and for approving the expansion of the Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC) programme to cover the six geo-political zones.

The graduates were given starter packs according to their area of training and N50,000 each, as well as food and non-food items to help stabilise them after the programme and enable their seamless reintegration into society.
