Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has issued a public apology to the victims of the recent armed bandits' attack in the Miango district of Bassa Local Government Area. The attack resulted in the deaths of over 50 people, with several homes razed in the Zikke community. The governor visited the affected community, expressing sympathy with the families of the victims and acknowledging the government's failure to protect its citizens despite significant investments in security.
"I have been crying since yesterday because I had trusted God that all the arrangements we put in place would prevent this from happening again," Mutfwang said. “We have made investments in security, but like all human arrangements, sometimes they fail. I want to admit that from Sunday night to Monday morning, we failed you. Please, forgive me.”
The governor emphasized that security is a collective responsibility, urging locals to remain vigilant and cooperative with the government. He also requested that communities provide vital information for intelligence gathering and expose criminal activities. Mutfwang assured the people that the government is working to reinforce intelligence gathering and rapid response to prevent future attacks.
