Social media activist Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as VDM, has responded to the Arewa Youth President's 48-hour ultimatum to apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto over a video he made. The controversy began after VDM reacted to the Sultan's statement describing social media as a "terrorist organization," which VDM challenged, defending the positive impact of social media in Nigeria.
In a scathing response, VDM sarcastically apologized for the "ignorance and illiteracy" of those misinterpreting his message, directly addressing the Arewa Youth President. He questioned the legitimacy of the AYCF's authority over him, stating that his jurisdiction is the entire Nigeria, not just the North.
VDM insisted that he never disrespected the Sultan of Sokoto, explaining that his words were carefully chosen to respond to the Sultan's statement about social media. He ended the video with a strong warning, cautioning the Arewa Youth President to be careful about what he says.
The response has sparked more conversation online, with many Nigerians debating whether VDM crossed the line or exercised his right to express dissent.
