A tragic incident has shaken the Nsukka area of Enugu State as a man, identified as Ogbonna “Mourinho,” has been arrested for the alleged murder of his former girlfriend, Chisom Ayogu.
According to reports, Chisom Ayogu, a native of the Amufie community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, visited Ogbonna at his residence on New Anglican Road in Nsukka. Her visit was intended to share happy news that she was engaged and preparing for her upcoming wedding.
What should have been a peaceful meeting turned violent. A disagreement reportedly broke out between the two, escalating into a physical altercation that left Chisom gravely injured.
Neighbors who rushed to the scene described finding Chisom unconscious.
“She was breathing faintly when we got there,” said one local resident.
She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but medical personnel confirmed that she was dead on arrival.
The Enugu State Police Command has taken Ogbonna into custody for questioning. The suspect, who hails from the Igogoro community in the same Igbo-Eze North LGA, remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the motive behind the alleged killing.
The disturbing nature of the incident has left residents in shock, raising concerns over domestic violence and unresolved emotional conflicts.
