The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, officially resumed work on Monday, August 5, 2025, amid swirling rumors about his alleged resignation.
Ojulari arrived at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja around 9:35 am, firmly debunking viral social media reports claiming he had stepped down from his position.
According to a top security official at the company, Ojulari is actively performing his duties and remains fully committed to the organization’s ongoing strategic objectives.
“The GCEO is in the office performing his duties as usual. Reports of his resignation making the rounds on social media are entirely false,” the source told reporters.
An internal memo has also been circulated within NNPCL, urging staff members and stakeholders to disregard the unverified claims.
Bayo Ojulari, who was appointed to lead NNPCL earlier this year, continues to spearhead key reforms and restructuring efforts across Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. His leadership is seen as pivotal in driving the company’s transformation agenda and maintaining investor confidence in the energy market.
NNPCL Stands Firm Amid Industry Changes
This clarification comes at a time when NNPCL is undergoing significant internal reforms aimed at boosting operational efficiency and strengthening transparency in the petroleum industry. Ojulari's presence at the helm affirms the company's commitment to stability and progress.
