Kate Henshaw Blasts Aviation Safety Standards After KWAM 1's Near-Miss at Airport
Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed outrage over a viral airport incident involving Fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate.
The controversy stems from a video that surfaced showing the iconic singer standing dangerously close to a taxiing aircraft at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. According to reports, KWAM 1 was positioned directly in front of the plane while its engines were already running and doors closed, a moment that could have turned tragic. He narrowly escaped injury after quickly ducking out of the way of the aircraft's wing.
Taking to social media, Kate Henshaw didn’t hold back in her criticism, calling out the aviation authorities and the culture of special treatment for celebrities in Nigeria.
“Anyhowness of this country!! How is a passenger allowed to stand so close to an aircraft whose doors have closed, engine started & it’s ready for takeoff? If na ordinary Nigerian like me now, agenda go agend. Make we continue to move like we are in the zoo pls! It suits us,” she wrote.
Her comment ignited further debate online about the disregard for safety procedures and the VIP culture that often puts lives at risk.
Patrick Doyle Weighs In: “It May Have Been a Trap”
Joining the conversation, veteran actor Patrick Doyle also shared his thoughts on the incident. In a post made on Thursday, Doyle suggested that the situation may not have been entirely the fault of KWAM 1. He believes the singer could have been set up by airport staff.
According to Doyle, he once had a similar encounter at the Asaba airport, where he was mistreated by personnel despite his public profile. He alleged that some airport staffers enjoy provoking celebrities in order to create controversy.
Reports also indicate that KWAM 1 was involved in a dispute with ValueJet officials after being prevented from boarding with bottles of alcohol a disagreement that may have contributed to the tense atmosphere on the tarmac.

The incident has sparked nationwide concern about aviation safety, procedural discipline, and the culture of preferential treatment. Many Nigerians are now calling for stricter enforcement of airport safety protocols — regardless of social status.
