IPOB Slams Nigerian Government Over Alleged Fake Witness in Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has leveled explosive accusations against the Nigerian Federal Government, claiming authorities presented a “planted mercenary” as a prosecution witness in the trial of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The controversial case has taken a dramatic turn, with IPOB alleging judicial manipulation and demanding accountability.

Fake Witness Allegations: A “Trial by Ambush”

In a recent court hearing, the prosecution introduced an individual referred to as Prosecution Witness BBB (PW-BBB). IPOB insists this witness has no legitimate ties to Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) and is a “strategically coached impostor.”

According to IPOB’s Media Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, PW-BBB’s name and testimony were absent from the original witness list provided to the defense. The group condemned this last-minute substitution as a “trial by ambush” and blatant prosecutorial misconduct.

“This individual is receiving strategic coaching to impersonate an informed insider when, in reality, he has no connection to DSS operations,” IPOB stated.

Under cross-examination, the witness reportedly struggled to answer basic questions, responding with phrases like “I don’t know” and “It’s not my job.”.IPOB argues this exposes PW-BBB as a fraudulent actor hired to legitimize false claims.

Judicial Manipulation and Kanu’s Detention

IPOB has long criticized Nnamdi Kanu’s detention, citing violations of international law. The group highlighted that Kanu’s solitary confinement under DSS custody has been corroborated by independent reports and UK consular officials who periodically visit him.

“No hired actor can rewrite these facts. The government’s theatrics insult the judiciary and undermine justice,” IPOB declared.

The organization called on Justice James Omotosho, the presiding judge, to recognize the alleged abuse of legal processes and uphold courtroom integrity.

International Community Urged to Intervene

IPOB has appealed to the global community to hold Nigeria accountable for what it calls a “sham trial.” The group vowed to expose PW-BBB’s identity and role in the alleged deception, emphasizing that Kanu’s unconditional release remains non-negotiable.

Key Takeaways:

- Witness Credibility Questioned: PW-BBB’s lack of DSS affiliation casts doubt on prosecution claims.

- Legal Ethics Under Fire: Last-minute witness substitution violates fair trial standards.

- Human Rights Concerns: Kanu’s solitary confinement and prolonged detention spark international scrutiny.

Media Responsibility and Call to Action

IPOB urged media outlets to avoid amplifying government “propaganda” and instead prioritize factual reporting.

“Upholding truth and constitutional principles is more urgent than ever,” the group stressed.

As the trial continues, advocates demand transparency and adherence to the rule of law.
