Plateau State Braces for Peace Walk Amid Escalating Violence

Christian leaders in Plateau State are mobilizing for a massive protest following a surge in deadly attacks across the region. The latest assault occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 14, 2025, when gunmen killed over 30 villagers in Bassa communities. This comes just days after more than 50 people were massacred in Bokkos Local Government Area.

A Call for Justice: The 2nd Peace Walk Against Killings

The protest, dubbed the “2nd Peace Walk Against Continuous Killings,” is scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025 (Easter Monday), at 9:00 AM. Organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State Chapter, the demonstration seeks to:

Demand an end to the relentless violence

Honor the victims of recent attacks

Call for justice and improved security measures

Dr. Gideon ParaMallam, President of the Gideon and Funmi Peace Foundation and a key organizer, emphasized the urgency of the protest:

“Between March 27th and April 2nd, nearly 80 innocent lives were brutally cut short in Bokkos LGA alone. We cannot remain silent. Their blood cries out for justice.”
