A heated exchange has erupted online after Faarees, a member of the Arewa community, criticized social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) following his reaction to a tragic accident in Auchi, Edo State.

According to VDM, three people reportedly lost their lives in the incident involving a Dangote truck, which hit BBNaija star Phyna’s sister, leaving her with an amputated left leg and severe injuries to her right leg. The heartbreaking development sparked outrage and protests in Auchi, with many demanding justice for the victims.

However, Faarees publicly called out VDM, questioning his actions and warning him against targeting Northerners in his activism.

Faarees’ Criticism of VDM

Faarees took to social media to blast VDM, writing:

“Who gave VDM the authority to stop anyone on the road? What kind of nonsense are we seeing in this country?! This madness has to stop!”

He further cautioned:

“VDM is a mere civilian, not a police officer or security agent. He has absolutely no right to stop anyone on the road. If his actions lead to loss of life or property belonging to any Northerner, he will pay for it dearly!”

Nigerians React Strongly Online

The clash quickly went viral, with Nigerians taking sides in the heated debate. Many supported VDM for speaking up against reckless truck drivers, while others agreed with Faarees that he may have overstepped his boundaries.

Here are some reactions:

@Viral9ja_com: “What authority are you talking about? The tragic incident that happened nko? You guys always make it look like we don’t deserve better in this country.”

@HashWith_Kadio: “What are you doing to stop the killings in the North?”

@Acee_Rivas: “Not just Northerners but all Nigerians are affected. Why mention Northerners alone? This is everyone’s fight.”

@udeochusp: “VDM is far better than any Nigerian politician today when it comes to defending the masses. Though he overstepped this time.”

@pang_zu7072: “So when will the madness of Dangote truck drivers stop? Let’s not ignore the real issues.”

@kingkhone4real: “He will soon receive the necessary treatment from government. It will end in tears.”

@UstazNazir: “VDM is overdoing it. If I were Dangote, I would use my power to lock him up for 5 years.”

@HassanY78101751: “If this incident happened in your state, you wouldn’t first attack VDM without thinking about the victims. Let’s be kind.”

The Bigger Picture

The tragic Auchi accident has once again raised questions about road safety, reckless truck drivers, and accountability in Nigeria. While some believe VDM is fighting for the masses, others argue that his activism must not cross legal boundaries.

One thing remains clear: Nigerians are demanding justice for the victims and stricter measures to curb the growing menace of reckless driving by heavy-duty trucks.
