Tinubu Governs Nigeria Remotely Amid Overseas Stay

The Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu remains actively engaged in Nigeria’s governance despite being abroad for nearly two weeks. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President is expected to return to Nigeria on Monday, April 21, following the Easter holidays.

President Tinubu’s Remote Leadership

While in Europe, President Tinubu has maintained constant communication with key government officials, ensuring the smooth running of national affairs. The statement emphasized that his absence is temporary and within the initially communicated timeframe.

Key actions taken by the President during his trip include:

Directing security chiefs to address emerging threats in volatile regions.

Overseeing critical governance matters from abroad.

Ensuring uninterrupted administration despite his physical absence.

Addressing Public Concerns

The Presidency’s statement comes amid criticism from opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who questioned Tinubu’s absence during heightened insecurity in Plateau and Benue states.

In response, the Presidency assured Nigerians that:

✔ Governance continues without disruption.

✔ The President’s commitment remains unwavering.

✔ His return will follow the Easter holiday.

Why Was Tinubu in Europe?

While the exact purpose of his trip was not specified, President Tinubu has a history of working visits to Europe since taking office. His recent movements included stops in Paris and London, where he conducted official duties remotely.

Conclusion: Leadership Beyond Borders

President Tinubu’s ability to govern effectively from abroad highlights modern leadership adaptability. With his scheduled return next week, Nigerians can expect a resumption of n-person presidential engagements at Aso Villa.
