A devastating building collapse has occurred on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos, Nigeria. The four-storey building, which houses the popular EqualRight Restaurant, caved in on Saturday morning, April 19, 2025, at around 8 am, sending panic through the neighborhood.

Several people are feared trapped beneath the rubble, raising concerns over potential casualties. An eyewitness described the incident as sudden, stating that people were inside the building when it collapsed, and voices can still be heard from under the debris.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has responded swiftly, deploying heavy-duty equipment, including an excavator, to aid rescue efforts. Eight victims have been rescued so far, with one transported to a hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported as of this report.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation, amid concerns over structural safety in Lagos, where 19 similar incidents occurred in 2024, according to LASEMA records.
