A preliminary autopsy report has confirmed that Nigerian boxer Olanrewaju Segun, popularly known as 'Success,' died from sudden cardiac arrest during a boxing match in Ghana. The 40-year-old fighter collapsed mid-fight on Saturday, March 30, while facing Ghana's Jon Mbanugu in an eight-round light-heavyweight contest at Fight Night 15.

Additional tests are required to investigate his heart condition before his body can be released. The body will not be returned to Nigeria for burial until approximately two weeks.

Segun was reportedly leading on points before he suddenly went down in the ring. Medical personnel at the Bukom Boxing Arena quickly rushed into the ring after Segun collapsed, removing his gum shield and attempting resuscitation. He was immediately transported to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Segun was a well-respected boxer in Nigeria and beyond. He had a successful career, winning several national and international titles. His death is a significant loss to the boxing community, and he will be remembered for his skills and achievements in the sport.

While the investigation into Segun's death is ongoing. The Nigerian Boxing Board of Control and West African Boxing Union promises to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
