A student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has died after jumping from a three-storey building at a lodge near the school gate. The incident occurred around 8:00 pm on Thursday, and the student's identity has not been disclosed pending notification of his family.
According to sources, the student had consumed hard drugs, locally known as "MKPURUMMIRI," before the incident. Neighbors reported hearing a loud sound and later found the victim's body lying in a pool of blood. The student's roommate, who was also under the influence of the same substance, is currently in police custody and will be questioned once he stabilizes.
Authorities are working to reach the student's family while investigations into the incident continue. The police and school authorities have yet to confirm the incident, but the tragic event has sparked concerns about the use of hard drugs among students.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the student's death, including the source of the hard drugs and the role of the roommate in the incident. The university is also expected to take measures to address the issue of substance abuse among its students.
