A violent mob in Bauchi State killed a man named Peter and severely injured 38-year-old Dokagk Danladi over allegations of dog theft on April 9. The attack occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the Lushi area, with Peter dying at the scene and Danladi suffering multiple machete wounds to the head. Danladi was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for urgent medical care.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident and launched a thorough investigation. Police spokesman Ahmed Wakil assured the public that all perpetrators would be brought to justice. A police team led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the scene to gather evidence and track those responsible.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the attack as "barbaric" and a "serious affront to the rule of law". He emphasized that no citizen has the right to take the law into their own hands and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as investigations continue.
