Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has revealed that 23 indigenes from the state are currently on death row in Indonesia for drug-related offenses. He made this statement while addressing a group of defectors from the All Progressives Congress to the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Soludo attributed the rise in drug trafficking to fake native doctors who deceive young people into believing they can evade airport security checks using charms. These charms are claimed to blind airport scanners, allowing traffickers to pass through undetected. However, many of these young people end up languishing in jails worldwide.
The governor vowed to arrest anyone making such deceptive claims, questioning why these native doctors can't improve their own lives if their powers are genuine. He cited examples of detained native doctors whose sons work ordinary jobs, contradicting their claims of magical wealth creation.
Soludo emphasized that his administration won't tolerate promoters of Oke Ite and other get-rich-quick schemes, which damage the mindset of youths in the state. He distinguished between legitimate traditional practices and deceitful activities masquerading as spirituality.
The Anambra State Government has already arrested over 40 suspected Oke-ite native doctors, with four arraigned in court and remanded in custody. Soludo's administration remains committed to clamping down on these activities.
