Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has convened an expanded State Security Council meeting to address the escalating insecurity in the state, particularly in the Bassa and Bokkos Local Government Areas. This move comes in response to the recent tragic attacks on the Zike and Kimakpa communities in Bassa LGA, where over 51 people were reportedly killed.
The Governor expressed deep sympathy with the affected communities, condemning the attacks as "heinous, unacceptable, and a threat to the peace and unity of Plateau State." He assured the citizens that the government is fully committed to halting the senseless killings and ensuring justice for the victims. Mutfwang also called on citizens of goodwill to speak out against the violence and stand in solidarity with affected communities.
During the meeting, the Governor received detailed briefings from security heads on the attacks and efforts are ongoing to establish the full facts and motivations behind the incident. Far-reaching decisions have been taken to forestall further attacks, with some measures to be announced later. Mutfwang reassured the people of Plateau State that the government is fully in control and will stop at nothing to secure lives and property.
The Governor also appealed to citizens to support security efforts through timely intelligence sharing, guaranteeing the confidentiality of sources. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to working closely with the Federal Government, security agencies, and community stakeholders to restore lasting peace to all troubled parts of Plateau State.
