In the bustling chaos beneath the Oshodi bridge in Lagos, where traders hustle daily to make ends meet, a young Nigerian woman has shared a soul-stirring story of heartbreak, betrayal, and resilience that has moved many to tears online.
In a video posted by TikTok user @ekaftv, the woman, who sells goods under the bridge, opened up about how she gave everything for love—only to be abandoned by the man she helped build.
Speaking with raw emotion, she recalled falling in love with a man from Ikorodu and choosing to support him through university. Though she herself wasn’t educated, she worked hard and sent him money—sometimes ₦50,000, other times ₦20,000—just to ensure he finished school. She paid his fees, believed in his dreams, and ignored the warnings of others.
But when the tides turned, so did he.
After graduating, the man left her and married another woman—an “educated” one. Heartbroken and betrayed, she packed up her pain and rebuilt her life at Oshodi, selling wares to survive and support her younger brothers through school.
“As I dey like this, I don cross my heart. I no fit love any guy again. Na my market be my relationship now,” she said in the video.
Now, she says she has found peace in her business and strength in her independence.
“If any man wan marry me now, he must carry me comot for under bridge, rent shop for me. Na only that kind man I fit follow. My market dey give me joy.”
The woman, who hails from Oyo State, is the only daughter in a family of five. With both parents gone, she has taken up the responsibility of sponsoring her four brothers through school. Despite her struggles, she firmly says she won’t consider sex work or shortcuts—just hard work and dignity.
“I no fit do hookup. That’s why I dey sell market.”
Her story, now going viral, has triggered an outpouring of emotion across social media. Many have praised her strength and determination, calling her the true face of Nigerian women’s resilience.
