The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft has made a significant bust in the fight against drug trafficking. On Saturday, April 5, 2025, the ship's personnel conducted a coordinated raid on a known criminal hideout in Gidan Drama, Malu Road, Apapa, Lagos State, arresting 27 suspected drug peddlers.
The suspects, comprising 24 males and 3 females, were found with various illicit substances, including Cannabis sativa, Canadian loud, Tramadol, and cough syrup with codeine.
On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the suspects and exhibits were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution. The NDLEA's Lagos State Commander, Abubakar Wale, emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling drug abuse and trafficking .
The Commander of NNS Beecroft, Paul Nimmyel, reaffirmed the Navy's commitment to ridding communities of criminal elements and curbing the spread of illicit substances that threaten public safety and national security.
