The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially acknowledged errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, affecting a significant number of candidates nationwide. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, expressed regret over the situation, citing technical glitches and human errors that distorted some candidates' results.
Approximately 379,997 candidates will retake the examination, which is set to begin on Friday, May 16, 2025. The affected candidates will be contacted directly with details of their new exam dates and centers. The breakdown of affected candidates shows 206,610 from Lagos and 173,387 from the South-East states, including Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Anambra.
JAMB has assured that measures will be taken to prevent similar occurrences in future examinations. The board's investigation, which commenced after releasing the results on May 9, 2025, engaged experts from various fields, including the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria and vice chancellors from different institutions.
